Dr. Michael Swartwood is a board-certified family medicine physician at Lakeland Medical Associates in Athens, Texas. He earned his medical degree from Kansas City University of Medicine in Kanas City, MO, and completed his residency in Family Medicine at John Peter Smith in Fort Worth, Texas. He went on to complete a one-year fellowship in Maternal-Child Health and Advanced Obstetrics.
Dr. Swartwood joined Lakeland Medical Associates in 2013. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and an active member of the American Board of Family Medicine, Texas Medical Association, and the Henderson County Medical
Society.
Dr. Swartwood has been voted “Best Family Physician” by the readers of the Athens Review in 2017, 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023 and 2024.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Swartwood enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, playing and watching sports, cooking, running, video games, Bible Study, and church.
